raw, jpeg, or raw + jpeg?

Do you primarily shoot raw only,  jpeg only, or raw plus jpeg? It is a question that I ask everyone at our workshops, field trips, and classes because it is an important question, particularly if you are going to do any post-processing.

Here’s what I do:

  • If I am going to do extensive editing or it will be used for a fine art image, I shoot raw.
  • If I don’t plan to do any editing to the images or the pictures will just be snapshots, I shoot jpegs.
  • If the pictures will just be snapshots but I may need to blow up one bigger than 4×6, I shoot raw plus jpeg.

What do you do?
